Paul Robeson Community School of the Arts Groundbreaking

GREYHAWK was once again on hand for a major school project milestone. Amid ongoing construction, a ceremonial groundbreaking took place on November 3 for a $47 million project to double capacity at Paul Robeson Community School of the Arts in New Brunswick, N.J. The project combines a 60,000-SF, three-story addition with a 59,400-SF renovation. Completion is anticipated in September 2018.

“This ground-breaking event represents the beginning of a wonderful project that, by adding capacity to New Brunswick’s growing school community, will address the needs of our students for years to come,” said New Brunswick Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Aubrey Johnson.

GREYHAWK is providing construction management services for the design-build project. The team includes Hall Construction Company, Inc., of Farmingdale, N.J., and Paulus, Sokolowski & Sartor Engineering, PC, of Warren, N.J.

Rowan College at Gloucester County Business and Corporate Center Ribbon-Cutting

On October 7, GREYHAWK marked completion of the final project in a campus-wide expansion of Rowan College at Gloucester County as part of the New Jersey Higher Education Bond. Renovation of the 24,600-SF Business and Corporate Center enables the college to house all business classes and faculty in a single facility while serving as a resource for the local business community to engage in education and career programs.

Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “The Business and Corporate Center is intended to be a valuable resource to the local business community, who we consider a valuable partner in our quest to keep our best and brightest students in our region.” Freeholder Lyman Barnes, liaison to the Department of Education, joined him at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

GREYHAWK served as construction manager throughout the entire expansion, including six major construction projects and over $19 million in campus investment.

Dedication of Frank J. Cicarell Academy

On September 28, GREYHAWK attended the official dedication of the $164 million state-of-the-art renovated high school in Elizabeth, N.J. The 183,000-SF school will serve 1,280 students in grades nine through 12.

Elizabeth High School was renamed Frank J. Cicarell Academy in honor of Cicarell’s 55 years of service to Elizabeth Public Schools. Superintendent Olga Hugelmeyer said at the dedication, “It is very fitting this outstanding facility, borne of such tireless effort and resolve, is named in honor of Mr. Cicarell, a man who was so passionately committed to the Elizabeth community.”

GREYHAWK provided construction management through two phases of site work and new construction, delivering the school on time and on budget. Patock Construction Company, Inc., of Tinton Falls, N.J. was the general contractor. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Architects of New York was the architect of record.

Opening Ceremony for Paterson School #16

On September 21, GREYHAWK participated in the official opening ceremony for the new $62 million School #16 in Paterson, N.J. The 109,500-SF facility will accommodate 700 children in Pre-K through eighth grade. The school’s anticipated LEED Gold certification will be a first for Paterson School District.

New Jersey Schools Development Authority CEO Charles McKenna said, “The new School 16 is an exceptional learning center that provides educational spaces and technology to help students learn, grow, and thrive.”

GREYHAWK served as construction manager for the project, from pre-construction in April 2014 through close-out and occupancy. Hall Construction Company, Inc. of Howell, N.J., was the design-build contractor in partnership with DIGroup Architecture of New Brunswick.

Barrett Richards to Serve on NYC Bar Construction Law Committee

Congratulations are in order for one of our newest members of the GREYHAWK team! Barrett Richards will be serving as a member of the Construction Law Committee for the New York Bar Association. The Association was founded in 1870 and is a voluntary association for lawyers and law students located in Manhattan. It is an honor to be selected as a committee member out of the associations 24,000 members. The Construction Law Committee gives the opportunity for attorneys and other professionals to deliberate on relevant issues that the construction and development communities face in the City and State of New York. This is a wonderful chance for Barrett to express his opinion on law and public policy while furthering his knowledge of the construction field. Barrett will be involved in various activities while on the committee. Such as commenting and testifying on legislation, submitting briefs, being involved in drafting reports, sponsoring continuing legal education and participating in public service projects. We congratulate you Barrett, we know that being selected for this committee took years of hard work and dedication. We are glad to have such an outstanding employee in the GREYHAWK family!
