Nassau County Safety Center

Project Details

  • Nassau County Department of Public Works
    Westbury, NY
    $50 million

As a part of the County’s program/construction management team for more than five years, GREYHAWK’s staff has guided County officials in the purchase, construction and disposals of buildings and parklands so that the County can consolidate its services and workforce. Helping shape projects from the conceptual stage through the post-construction phases, GREYHAWK’s staff was instrumental with logistics planning, constructability, bid packaging strategy, design management and problem solving.

Serving as construction manager, GREYHAWK was on the Safety Center project in Westbury, NY, since the conceptual stages. This $50 million, 241,000-square-foot project is the renovation of an old supermarket distribution warehouse into the communications hub of the county. The new Safety Center houses all 911 operations, fire department and police department services. Uninterruptible power, telephone, communications, security, fire protection and IT are all key elements of this project, which includes redundancy for all systems. HVAC and electrical upgrades are the heart of the project as computer servers are critical to all operations housed there.

GREYHAWK served as an extension of staff for Nassau County’s Department of Public Works. These services include administering the construction management and design contracts, monitoring construction management performance, approving payment requests, quality assurance and facilitating meetings.
